So I had to escape for a bit.....
My grandmother died early Wednesday morning after two weeks in hospice care, and just a week after her 93rd birthday. It was a very long two weeks, and the whole family is just worn out.
I took an impromptu trip down to Orlando yesterday to visit my best friend there, and to just.....get away for a few days to try and recharge. I’ll be here until Thursday. I’m hoping to use this time to rest and…recalibrate some of the bad habits that I’ve fallen into lately. Bad sleep habits, bad eating habits, etc. And I should have some time while she’s at work to get some writing done, too.
At least that’s the plan anyway. We’ll see how it goes.
I want to get back on here (and maybe try out the EasyDiary site as well) and.....connect with people again. I’ve been out of the loop for so long (my own largely unconscious doing), and I need to feel human connection again. And hopefully build up a sense of community again that’s been lacking since OD went down. Which, of course, means I need to make some time to read, comment, etc in addition to just a few short posts here and there. Plus, it’d give me better incentive to write more, as well.
But for now, we’re about to get ready for lunch (she’s at a gym class right now) and then probably a low-key pool day. Then we’re heading out to try Orlando’s first annual “Burger Bash,” where local eateries compete for $3000 and bragging rights as the best burger in Orlando. Which means all you can eat burgers, desserts, and complimentary alcohol. What’s not to like about that?
