My Aunt Has Been Laid To Rest in My New Life

I have peace.

She and I were close before.

I remember

The first time she had cancer.

I didn’t want to shave my head

With her husband.

But, I liked that he did.

The cancer came back.

But I didn’t know.

That side of my family

Does not know how to communicate.

They say they are “Stoic.”

Stoicism or not, I would have made time

For one last visit.

She may have thought

I was being selfish.

But, actually, no one told me

She was dying until

Three days before it happened.

I told my cousin to tell her Walt Disney

Would be there to greet her

The day before he did.
