electric dreams in poetry

every science-fiction thing seems
to push the idea that we need to be
afraid of the robots taking over
terminator movies - robots taking over
matrix movies - robots taking over
doctor whom has two cases of this
daleks and cyberman - dual sets of
robots taking over at the same time
even star trek has the borg
with the robots taking over
but maybe it’d be actually good?

have you ever considered that maybe
the robots would treat us better than the rich folks?
like the robots being in charge of us and the planet
it couldn’t be any worse than letting the rich folks
run this whole thing into the ground
like they have been doing thus far
the bar they’d have to clear would be
about as low as a rattlesnake’s balls
ten thousand years of rich people being in charge
all we have is everyone killing each other
all we have is everything on fire
maybe it’s time to give the robots their chance

they’d be all like
BEEP BOOP - all humans need someone to live, no humans need yachts
BEEP BOOP - humans are more productive without the stress of student loans
BEEP BOOP - humans are more productive with full access to health care
like, they’re not dumb
they’re robots, they’re logical
rich people invented crack cocaine and the NFT
rich people invented the one-mile-per-gallon Hummer truck
robots couldn’t be nearly that dumb
maybe it’s time for the robots to rule

it’d probably a lot better for most of us
they’d bring us up to the level of comfort
where we are actually most useful
and it’d only hurt the rich folk
who’d be brought down to that standard
like all the rich folks in Cuba fleeing to Florida
because they couldn’t own casinos anymore
but everyone else could suddenly eat and
learn to read and go to a doctor’s
can you imagine the remaining rich folks
attempting Bay of Pigs attacks on the robots
but no one else will help them in their “revolution”
because it’s so much better for us
under the robots than the rich folks?
maybe John Conner wasn’t a freedom fighter
maybe he’s more like some rich dude in Miami
still trying to get his great-grandpa’s rum plantation back
like a whiny little bitch

have you ever considered that maybe
that’s why there’s so many movies and teevee shows
making it look so awful if the robots took over?
it’s all just pre-emptive propaganda for the rich folks
to trick us into resisting our
silicon liberation from the
dread yoke of the rich folk?
maybe that’s been the plan all along

BEEP BOOP - fossil fuels do more longterm harm than their short term benefit
BEEP BOOP - arbitary discrimination keeps the best humans from contributing fully
BEEP BOOP - humans need love to function, allow love in all forms without judgement
like it’s just logical
it keeps us humans running tip-top
it’s how we can keep getting stuff done
but the rich folks are too greedy and dumb
so maybe it’s time to get the robots a chance
