I wish i knew you in Memories.....or lack thereof...

I have a younger sister
I dearly wish I knew
We grew up together
Then far apart we grew.

We had the same experience
The life I cannot know
She gets all of the knowledge
And I get all the snow

I’m told I was unhappy
Difficult and mean
But somewhere on my path
I changed how I was seen

I learned to find the silver
Among the edges of the clouds
I shrugged away the past
To carve a future of which I’m proud

But how I wish I knew you
Oh how I yearn to know
I want to meet the little girl
That began so long ago

The one that started out so sweet
And innocent and wild
The one that once was my best friend
When I was just a child.

You’ve gone away somehow
I’m not sure when or why
But somewhere on this path we walk
You let that child die

The sweetness now has gone
The innocence is dry
It’s been replaced with malice
And a joy to see them cry

You laugh at our moms tears
You scoff at her reprimands
You speak as though you wear the crown
And we should cower at your demands

I do not know this person
Who takes joy in others pain
Who only wants to know someone
If they have something you can gain.

I feel robbed and cheated
Your hidden by my brain
I know we used to be best friends
But those memories wear a chain

I dearly wish I knew you
At least then I’d soothe my pain
With memories of hide and seek
Or even the mundane

But all I know is cruelty
The hate and pain you spew
I wish there was a way that I
Could find that girl I knew.
