way way up there in poetry

I just don’t understand why
those two random guys
were so goddamn excited
about seeing a bird or a plane

Superman, sure, I get that
dude flying around in tights
but

“Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird!”
Did he just get out of
solitary confinement?

“Look! Up in the sky! It’s a plane!”
Is he Amish?
Did he just time-travel in
from nineteen-twenty-three?

Birds and planes are both rather
common in big cities like Metropolis

Some guy in a cape
whose magic eyes
can cook a steak?
Absolutely noteworthy.
I would yell as well.

But for a bird or a plane?
The only explanation
would be they were high.
That they were…
super high.
