The Magic Of A Child's Enviornment in anticlimatic

I was enjoying a warm, windy, end of summer evening, when I came upon a soccer field in this little village. The sprinklers were pinging the goal frame, and at once I recovered a feeling of being stranded in the grass at school, perhaps after school. It was a pleasant feeling, in hindsight. That irritating adolescent boredom, when the child-safe places we had been confined our entire lives had nearly ran their course.

The places such as these that I can recall are as follows: church areas, church-school areas, daycares, schools, school sporting venues (like soccer fields), our own homes with our parents, and our friends homes with their parents. All of these places have strict rules that are enforced by grownups that supervise and regulate the members and the environment, and all of these places censor out and filter what comes in from Adult World.

Somewhere in adolescence the cartoons get old. The baby language serving the younger members of the area becomes absolute cringe. Almost all of it becomes absolute cringe. And at some point during the proper teenage years, most folks bust out of those child-safe zones and don’t look back until they have some children of their own to put there.

There’s a magic to it, though. A magic I can only see now from the Adultworld in which I have been marooned some 25 years. There is this cozy safety to the supervision. To the delicate crafting of a controlled and beautiful environment. Everything tailored to you, and your betterment. An entire world speaking directly to you in a safe and calming voice.

I can see becoming a teacher just for the sake of having a license to remain in such a place. Adultworld was so captivating with its novelty, depth, savagery, and pleasures- but what a cold winter out in the streets it ultimately feels ensnared by.
