Chaos, eruption, and entertainment nadir in blackpropaganda

As I write there is a blue sky and the sun is shining - which makes a change from the uncertainty in the weather in the last few days when you could never be sure when the next big shower would be arriving.

It matches the uncertainty all around - from Iraq and Syria, to Gaza, to the Ukraine and even the possibility of there being a volcanic eruption in Iceland which could lead to disruption of air travel.

We were in Spain four years ago when there was massive disruption and were lucky that things were just about back to normal by the time we flew home - but elder son is on Spain at the moment and comes back tomorrow - so hope the gods in Iceland hold back on their massive ejaculation for a little whle longer.
Politicians are allover the place on the crises - those in power love to show they are doing something - but in reality now it shows how powerless many of them are - lost of rhetoric - but really a kind of sigh which says 'What can we do?'

And this is not helped by pictures of Cameron on a beach in Cornwall in his wetsuit - I am trying to work out which cartoon character he looks like

there is a case for politicians on holiday hiding away from the public, rather than showing they are 'just like us'.
And last night I experienced 'Tumble' on the BBC - a sort of Strictly Come Trampolining and other gymnastic activities' - 'celebrities' and I use that term very loosely take part in gymnastic competitions and get marked by real gymnasts (part and present). Let's put no finer point on it - it was crap - enforced enthusiasm for poorly executed activities - and I think they all know it is crap - a summer filler. You can imagine the talk in the production office - 'hey, we have had dancing, diving as celebrity activities - what about gymnastics?' 'Good idea Toby, people could get hurt too!!'
As far as I could see on my brief visit nobody died in the making of the programme (which was live) - but entertainment values hit rock bottom.
