Some wanker phoned in a bomb-threat to my work late yesterday afternoon. I had about a half-hour of my shift to go when my manager came up to me and quietly told me. At first I didn’t hear him, as he said it so quietly, so I had to get him to repeat it, which he obviously didn’t want any customers to overhear, as there wouldhave been panic lol. Anyway, my first thought and what came out of my mouth was, “What the hell is wrong with people!?”
Anyway, he went home and shortly afterward I saw a policeman chatting with one of the staff, walking through my aisle. I kept wondering, “Am I going to be blown up soon? Is this how I go?” but most of me was just like, “Meh, this is the Valley - nothing unusual and am empty threat.” I certainly wasn’t panicking or anything. It just made the end of the day a little more exciting. I’d heard there was a ‘Karen’ in earlier, so thought it was probably just her.
I finished my shift as usual and walked out to find the shopping centre carpark completely deserted, except for two police cars, and a third one at the entrance, blocking anyone from driving in. I wondered if they’d asked everyone to leave or not, as there is only a 15 minute limit on the upper levels, but people abuse that. It was weird seeing it empty when everyone uusually rushes in right before we close at 6pm on a Sunday.
I went to gym and then decided to go back afterward to see if the building was still standing. It was. Dammit lol.
The police had done their sweep and left. I’m not sure how they do that exactly. It’s not like a saw a bomb-detection robot or anything.
All police cars were gone. I assume there was still only the one nightfiller inside. He’s the new ANM, who seems nice - I met him yesterday. Quite cute too for a guy with a scruffy blonde mullet lol. But a nice welcome to the store for him yesterday, I’m sure.
