Just not used to this heat in the UK - Spain yes - but here we do not have fans and air conditioning - so we have windows and doors open - and still it shows F80 in the kitchen - and no wonder I have been having restless nights - I guess just having the bedroom window open is not enough. So tonight it looks like some naked sleeping. Still, it is an excuse to wear shorts and polo shirts for all occasions - and out came my orangy/pink shorts and matching shirt today to walk - I could be seen from miles around. It is great for all the families on holiday who normally take their chances on the weather - but with a forecast saying it will be hot sun they can get on the beach and know they can have a good time. Actually I have spent half the day with a plumber in the house trying to work out why the boiler does not heat the water in our hot tank - after wresting with the problem he found the pipe was completely blocked - and he could only get so far - they will be back next week - and I await the bill with trepidation. Meanwhile Glasgow is hosting the Commonwealth Games - and you can see how some athletes view them - they see it as more important to prepare for more prestigious events. Still there are lawn bowls, and shooting, and cycling etc etc - and the bulk of the medals will be won by England, Australia, Canada and Kenya - they talked it up - but they really are peripheral when it comes to professional sport. It was great at the opening to see Prince Imran of Malaysia failing to get the message out of the baton which has gone round the world. It was like trying to open one of those pill bottles when you have to press and turn - I guess he has servants at home to do it - so the Queen was twiddling her thumbs while he did it - and then she was able to open the Games. Oh - and I went to a lovely recital today, in the heat, in my shorts - given my a lovely woman who sang like a dream - and had the most wonderful breasts - not sure what I was most impressed by - but I could see where she got her big breaths from. I won't even mention Gaza - an absolute disaster
