New Orleans in Life

I was only there a couple of days and I really didn't get to explore much. The hotel was very nice: (I don't usually take bathroom pictures, but a dual shower head, great pressure, and lots of hot water...I could have stayed in there all day!) The room was really big and comfortable.

The hotel had a rooftop pool on the 29th floor. Actually, the access was on the 29th floor, then you climbed 2 flights of stairs to reach the pool. I didn't get any of the pool, lol, but it had an amazing view:

My room was the last one on the right on the 22nd floor (right in the middle).

On the first night I just got pizza from a little local place by the hotel. It was ok. The 2nd night I ventured out to a nicer restaurant. I had a sangria and lobster and shrimp mac and cheese. It was really really good!

The workshop was really good, lots of wonderful resources to use in the class on civics. It's hard to find anything like that, so I was excited. Part of the workshop was on using Mock Trials in the classroom. We were assigned parts and spent some time planning. Then, the 2nd day we walked over to the State Supreme Court Building and used one of their courtrooms to try our case. It was so much fun and a little nerve wracking. People have always told me I would make a good lawyer because I like to argue. I was a defense attorney and had to cross-examine a witness for the plaintiff. I was on a roll and then asked a question and the whole courtroom gasped and one of the teachers on the plaintiff's side said, "Ouch, that was harsh!!!" I instantly apologized and the judge (the instructor for us) started laughing and said you weren't supposed to apologize in court when you were questioning a witness. lol I went to the "witness" after and apologized again. She was a sweet older lady and she laughed and hugged me. She said that the point I made was one that she had instantly thought of and would have made as well. We weren't supposed to take any pictures in the courtroom, but I snuck a couple. (everyone else was doing the same thing.lol)

We'll see if this works. I held the camera to the side and videoed some of the landscape leaving New Orleans. I wanted to be able to show the kids a true horizon. Around here you can't go more then a few feet until you see a hill or tree. lol (Oh and you get to see my car at the end. lol I couldn't look at it to turn it off.
