We had our hot day, I forgot to open up my car as I was taking it for the first MOT Test, so when I opened the door the heat wafted over me; I took the long way to avoid the island on the A30 – it is the height of the holiday season! my trip was ok with all four windows down, once I handed over my car I took a walk passed all the second hand cars, not that I’m buying just yet, but most of the cars were not large enough for our dogs with their crates.
The car passed ok after a small adjustment to the headlights, I said I would pay with cash, it was £53.85 and after a search in my wallet and pockets I came up with £53.84! On my way home I passed Sweetheart with Daughter and dogs off to agility, once home I was cook for my and son’s dinner, pork curry and rice, I used some red Thai curry paste; it had less heat than the green I used last time.
The day was one of contrasts, before evening the news was the return of the victims of MH17 to Eindoven air base in the Netherlands, the Netherlands were observing a national day of mourning. At nine-o-clock it was the opening of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, for this sporting event our Queen arrived by car – rather than parachute. In the opening event the celebrations paused to remember what had been happening in the Netherlands, a way to carry on with life.
Prince Imran of Malaysia is president of the Commonwealth Games Federation was there, his job was to remove the a message from the Queen’s baton, witch has been to all seventy two countries of the Commonwealth. I wonder if it was dropped on its travels, as Prince Imran struggled to open the baton, Chris Hoy was there and gave a hand, two struggling with the baton looked more awkward; it seemed to amuse the Queen.
Today we have a cooler day, something the athletes in Glasgow might like, yet it stills feels close so I expect it will getting warm or even hot by afternoon ……
