I found out my (other) cousins from down south are coming up to visit me this weekend - yay!!!! It makes me feel special knowing that they are making an effort to come and see me. They rang today to see how many beds and blankets I have lol.

L's mum is turning 60 in a week. We are going up to see her and celebrate her 60th the weekend after this one. She told me she wants the shampoo and conditioner I use for her birthday, that it would make her really happy, as she has been searching for a product like it for so long (Sukin is the brand).

Today L and I dropped our girls off at school and preschool, then went to the next town to do groceries. I was sore all over from yesterday's exercise but was trying to keep it a secret that I had exercised - for the simple reason that whenever I start talking about the fact that I exercised, I stop exercising. It's dumb but anyway... in the end I couldn't hide the reason why I was so tired and sore lol.

We bought some fruit and veges from a local guy who grows all sorts of vegetables. I always drive past his house on the way to Coles but never stop there because I always forget, or I think it's inconvenient to drive into his driveway just to see what he's selling when he's left the blackboard out of the front blank. But today we stopped in there and I was SO glad we did! He was the coolest guy and unafraid to give us his tips on how to grow certain veges and cook certain dishes. He makes all sorts of relishes and sauces (his wife is Texan so there are a lot of BBQ sauces on their agenda). One of the sauces is strawberry and chilli!!! Who would've thought to mix such a thing? He said his son showed up with a thousand strawberries one day so he decided to play around with it and came up with that sauce - and it's really popular lol. He had 3 dogs who were so cute and friendly. They kept happily sniffing my jeans (they could obviously smell my doggy) and then one of them put his front paws up on me and looked up at me so damn lovingly lol. I gave him some cuddles and as soon as I did that, another dog came running up and started biting my hands and wanting to play - obviously the hypo one of the three lol.

After that we went to Coles to buy groceries and continued our topic of late: sustainability. My best friend is all about sustainability and so she's always asking my thoughts and wanting to know my stance but I've never really had one. My interest in it has come about due to a simple assessment question, and all that research has sparked intrigue and interest. So we've been talking about it lately and what our ideals are in this regard. One of them is definitely supporting the locals - something we've always done in a half-hearted way. For example when we first moved here, I was buying my fruit and veges from the fruit and vege shop but found that it was too expensive, and besides, by the time I got to that place (after Coles and whatever else) my girls were exhausted and therefore naughty and I'd leave the place with a headache. So I stopped going and opted to buy everything at the one place (Coles) - that was about two years ago. Today we went back to the fruit and vege guy and WOW his prices have come down considerably for starters! Secondly, he has expanded his shop and now sells a wider range of things, which is great! He recognised my face and said hi in the friendly way that only comes with that sense of familiarity - and that's another thing I love about supporting the smaller people. It is certainly a much more personal experience and I like that.

We came home, made lunch and sat on the grass in our backyard in the sunshine. I took my shoes and socks off as I wanted to feel the earth on my feet and L did the same. Unfortunately it didn't last long because there were green ants all around us!! Damn!!! Then L had the amazing idea to sit on the back of his ute to finish lunch, so we did, with our amazing surroundings keeping us company. We lay down on the back of his ute afterwards and sleepily looked up at the sun dancing through the leaves above us for a while, then went to bed for a snooze. It really reminded me of the old pre-kiddy days when we'd go out to the shops and get home exhausted for a sleep hahaha. We've always been oldies lmao. Except that in the old days it used to always turn into sex of course - whereas today, WE JUST SLEPT. Lol.

He went to work and then I picked up the girls. I'd had a really relaxing, beautiful, mindful, thoughtful day. The kind of day that is right down my alley.
