Nothing much in At the foot of the hill

Not much happening around here. I am really enjoying the little library just down the hall from my apartment. Have been doing a lot of reading. Just whatever captures my eye when I wander down there. There is a bigger library on the first floor but there are enough books in this tiny one to keep me going for a long time. And I have my Kindels. I am kind of tight though, and don't like to pay for very many books. Also, my bridge club ladies exchange books all the time so I can usually find one or two I haven't read when we meet for cards.
We did go out with our old senior club (Fabulous Fifties) yesterday. We drove up the "foothills" and had a picnic beside a fast flowing creek. The visiting was cut short because, just as we finished eating, it started to sprinkle. By the time we got all our stuff gathered up and into our cars, it was raining a little harder so we called it a day and came down.
The picnic area was crowded. I'm beginning to feel hemmed in. There are so many people wherever we go...and more and more people moving here every day, thanks in part to undocumented immigrants and, even more to the legal marijuana that is available here. They say that the homeless population in Denver has at least tripled since January...
We are pretty sheltered here in our neighborhood. Pot is not legal in this part of town, and the rent is pretty high. Going down town is happening less and less with us, just because we find it uncomfortable. And did I say crowded?
I guess I'm still a country (as in wide-open spaces!) girl at heart.
