Thorpie's a diver in Adventures in paradise

So Ian Thorpe FINALLY came out. Geez. Years and years of me paying him out as being camper than a row of tents (what with his line of hydration products and pearl necklaces LOL)

, and he finally decides to admit it.

So of course all the media are saying he's 'brave' and 'courageous'. Sure, coming out is an intensely personal thing for each of us individually. I think my issue is not only that he denied it over and over and got defensive but also because he threatened legal action at one point. To me he made it out to seem like there was something wrong with being gay. I mean c'mon, really? Who DIDN'T know? I guess he didn't want to lose all his sponsorship deals or whatever. I guess he saw enough other sports people came out over the years and were okay. It'll be interesting to see the interview with Parkinson tonight, either way, if only to hear his reasoning. I always wondered if this was the underlying reason behind his depression, but that could be a whole other story.
