Prove You Wrong in Things That I'm Grateful For

It was Ark’s birthday a few days ago. For those of you who don’t remember, Ark and I were hooking up until he randomly got a boyfriend and forgot to tell me about it and it kind of broke my heart. We’re still friends, although it’s kind of strained because of how messy that ending was. The television series he wrote and directed is close to premiering so he’s finally slowing down a bit, and he and I have been talking more frequently lately.

Out of nowhere, he messaged me yesterday asking if I knew someone. I looked up who he was talking about and it just so happened to be Karan. If you don’t remember who that is, he’s the chap with whom I went on the notorious bad date in The 1990’s Entry.

Apparently, Karan has been messaging Ark some very snide and passive aggressive messages regarding the success of his tv series. I explained how I knew him, gave him the short version of our date, and told him how I finally yelled at him.

At this point, Ark said something very surprising… so surprising, I scrolled right past it.

Oh, if you scream at someone that’s like a bottom line. You are the loveliest man

I got kind of confused and asked what he meant. He just said I was generous, patient and kind.

Those are three adjectives that have never been associated with me since I was a child. I started asking my friends in Bangkok how they would describe me and they all said similar things.

Back in the US, I was notorious for screaming at people. I even had a reputation in college for screaming at my professors if they were idiots. But somehow, in Thailand, I am no longer seen as a banshee on speed… I am serene, peaceful, but still sarcastic. They all agreed that I am sarcastic.

I told Ark that Karan was probably just jealous of his success and trying to minimize his accomplishments in order to amplify his own feelings of success within himself. Ark told me he’s going to avoid him from now on, and I replied that, because I have run into Karan from time-to-time since our date, I think Karan is a sociopath so it’s for the best.

SERENITY NOW!
