Hair and Beauty in Diary

I'm not a girly girl by any stretch of the imagination but I have some hair and beauty stuff to talk about today, which is very unusual for me.
I've been doing a trial for some facial moisturiser. I have to only use it on one side of my face for two weeks and nothing on the other side and then fill in a survey. Well, I can't see the difference between the two sides, not at all! We're always told how important it is to moisturise and I normally do it every day as part of my routine, but now I haven't moisturised one side at all for two weeks and don't notice the difference, I wonder if I've been wasting my time and money all these years, or if it's more of a long term investment?
Another beauty mystery to me is sea salt spray. Amy at work was raving on about it the other day so I looked it up online and found it was getting five star reviews everywhere, everyone loves it blah blah. So I bought some; I don't often do anything to my hair but I thought I'd give it a try. It's supposed to give your hair gentle waves and give it a tousled, beach type look. So I decided to put it in only one side of my hair to see how great it is compared to the side that has nothing in it. It does nothing! I followed the instructions to the letter and my hair didn't look any different on either side. Not only that, but it ended up looking really dull and straw-like by the end of the day. What the hell? How come everyone else in the world thinks it's amazing, what am I doing wrong?
Speaking of hair, I've made an appointment for a cut on Saturday. I hate going to the hairdresser, I haven't been for three years. I've only ever got exactly what I asked for once in my entire life. Last time I went, I asked for the cut I got when I loved it which was jaw length, really choppy with layers, feathering etc. But I ended up with a crappy Lego type bob. Every time I've gone to the hairdresser it's either ended up looking like a load of crap or looking exactly the same as when I went in. But it's getting really dry now and looks boring all the same length, so I'm braving it and trying again to get something half decent. I'm still keeping the length but I need a trim and I would like some subtle layers and feathering, just to give it a bit of interest. Let's see how it goes!
There were some new freshies at roller derby on Sunday, I'm no longer of the newest newbies! Hehehe, I felt like an old pro :op
My new printer arrived today. My laptop didn't. I ordered seven things off Amazon all in the same order; everything that's coming from the Marketplace were all dispatched either the same or next day. Everything that's coming from actual Amazon still hasn't been dispatched, three days later! What's going on Amazon? I'm excited to get everytihng set up but there's no point me taking my printer out of the box until my laptop arrives. Sort it out!

The hairdresser up by me's really good, I'm not sure if she'd be open when you get out of work or anything like that though! (I'm sure you wouldn't make the trip just to get your hair cut, lol)
Bomb Shell Waterfire ⋅ July 08, 2014
Ah thanks for the recommendation but I have to get home as quickly as possible after work as that's when I walk Roxy. I'm trying the one around the corner from me so I'll see what that's like :o)

I've only been to the hair dressers once in about 12 years, and that was to Wendy's about 2 years ago...they did magitrickery on me or SOMETHING because my hair was beautiful for about 2 whole days. I remember the last time I went before that because I'd just had my cartilage pierced and he got his comb caught in it. Ouch! Was about 1999/2000
Bomb Shell Babe In Toyland ⋅ July 09, 2014
Oh ow! No wonder you've been put off going!
They always do magic at the hairdressers, it's always impossible to get it looking the same at home.
Babe In Toyland ⋅ July 09, 2014
Oh God, it's 2014, isn't it? I must be getting old...
mutedexposure ⋅ July 09, 2014
I once got a lotion thing like that and saw no difference. It was a placebo and had no emolients in it to moisturize. I was thinking the same as you until I got the email after the closing report.
Bomb Shell mutedexposure ⋅ July 09, 2014
Aha it was a trick! I wonder how many people filled in the survey and said it was amazing? lol.
Canadian Lass ⋅ July 09, 2014
I like to use Moroccan oil in my hair when its feeling dry, but I only do it every couple washes other wise it gets to greasy, and I also only wash my hair every few days for that reason as well.
Bomb Shell Canadian Lass ⋅ July 09, 2014
Oh my hair is an enigma; the roots are greasy as anything and the ends are dry, but I think that's only because it needs cutting ;o)
Camdengirl ⋅ July 09, 2014
They want you to sign up for Amazon Prime!
Bomb Shell Camdengirl ⋅ July 09, 2014
Ah, so that's their plot! I'm not desperate enough to get my things that I'm going to pay extra for postage, I always order well in advance. Anyway, more and more things are coming from the Marketplace so it would probably be a waste of money ;o)

Good luck at the hairdressers! X
Lucretia ⋅ July 10, 2014
Maybe the salt spray just isn't right for your type of hair? There's loads of things folk rave about that's no good for my 'fro but is great for other people. Of course, it could just be the thrill of something new and they're all talking poo. Good luck with the hairdressers, if you find a good place it's fab! Fingers crossed x

The salt spray is supposed to give you a "matte finish" so that'll be the dull thing. I was going to get some to try and cheat my way out of bad hair days by saying it was a beach look day but ended up buying dry shampoo and just pony tailing it. I'm not a fan of hair products and I also hate hair dressers. People seen to
Bomb Shell Vee ⋅ July 13, 2014
Yeah, the matte finish just looks crap on my hair, lol. I might try some other styles with it.
Vee ⋅ July 13, 2014
People seem to think getting their hair done is a treat, but the hair deserts just want to talk crap with you, while either complaining that my hair is thick and difficult to cut, or is damaged from dyeing, or whoever cut it last did a terrible job and I need to come back more often. I've been cutting my own hair for 4 years now, but it really needs a professional cut and I'm dreading it as I don't want the telling off!
Bomb Shell Vee ⋅ July 13, 2014
Oh it's not a treat for me, it's more a necessity, but I always leave it as long as possible in between going. One woman who was in there at the same time as me made two other appointments for the next week...who needs to go to the hairdresser three times a week??
I think I've found a good one, it only took 20 minutes and the chatting wasn't incessant, just enough to make me feel polite enough for not ignoring her, lol. I think I'll go there again :o)
