I feel old in 2023

So my son decided he wants to do full time dual enrollment at our local university for his senior year of high school. He’s gone through the process and been accepted, now he just has to wait on a few placements tests to ensure he’s eligible to enroll in the specific classes he wants.
Today he went to the new student orientation on campus. He specifically wanted to go by himself, so we didn’t push to go with him. He had a great time, asked a lot of good questions, and got to tour the dorms.
Turns out DE students who are at least 17 (he’ll be 17 in June) are eligible to live on campus if they want to. We talked about it and told him to look up the prices, and it turns out it’s fairly reasonable. He’s a smart, funny, sarcastic kid, but he doesn’t have a ton of friends, so we’re thinking it would actually be a good opportunity for him, since he’s going to be a full-time student anyway.
But fucking yikes, y’all. I’m not ready for my firstborn to move out just yet. I’m not worried about him, he’s very independent and will do fine with the taste of freedom, but how in the hell is he old enough that we’re talking about these things?!
I feel simply ancient.
