Best Friend in I don't know....

An older friend of mine posted on FB that her husband has passed away. I felt so sad for her. She said she lost her best friend. I hate it for her and I understand her sense of loss. However, my husband isn't my best friend.

I wish I felt that he was. I wish I cared that he was, but he isn't. I don't get it. I really don't understand your husband being your best friend. I have 2 IRL best friends. 2 great women with Godly perspectives. I have, what I consider, to be a BFF "in the box" that is the same way. She has a wonderful, Godly perspective, yet she understand real life. I wouldn't trade any of these women for anything.

I wish I had a sister. I don't. I've tried to help my girls cultivate their relationship and I think I have. They do very well with each other and I hope as they each grow older they consider each other their best friend. That one constant.

Eric isn't my constant and never has been. He's a wild card about a lot of things. A best friend isn't someone whom you look at and wonder how supportive they will be. They aren't a wild card in your life. Eric isn't my best friend and I don't think he ever will be.
