This weekend... in Each Day

… was wild. Thursday I got home and prepped for Remembrance Day. M was on parade, and I had asked to attend his parade so we could be together (originally I was supposed to be on a parade in another part of the city). So we set out our dress uniforms for the morning. Despite the obligation the next day, we treated Thursday like a weekend night. We got nicely high, played some video games and watched some shows, and went to bed and had a sexy time. haha.
Friday was a beautiful day. I dropped M off at work, where he took a bus down to the cenotaph with the other folks on parade. I had about an hour to kill before the ceremony started, so I grabbed a peppermint mocha coffee from McDick’s and went to find parking with easy egress. I talked to The Odd Lady while I killed time. As always it was a good chat.
We came home, got nicely high again, and had an epic night of sexy time with a side of paranoia on my part and flashbacks on M’s. Note to selves: Do not use substances on triggering days. Eesh.
Saturday it rained and rained. Despite Friday being beautiful and us staying inside for the entire afternoon, we chose this rainy dreary day to go walk on a beach. We drove to one of our favourite haunts, and miraculously as we pulled up to the parking area the rain pretty much stopped. The wind was howling and the waves were fierce, it was wonderfully moody, and soothing. We chatted as we strolled along the beach. When I licked my lips I tasted salt. There was a fine mist coming off the ocean.
On our way home we grabbed some groceries, and settled in for another night of video games, shows and sexy times.
Sunday morning we did a bit of a tidy, and waited for Bastet to tell us when to meet her to bring her back to our place. We hung out, chatting, ordered in for dinner, tried to finish Atomic Blonde but didn’t succeed before we went upstairs. Both M and I weren’t working in the morning (he was off, I didn’t work until late) so our activities were… involved. We’d been texting about all the things we wanted to do with each other, and while I have a tendency to chicken out of being bold in the bedroom (I annoy myself with this quality), Bastet does not suffer from this tendency. We’re an incredible trio, and having multiple nights together let us find a groove and create our own way of talking about what we wanted in the moment. Afterwards we all laid in a satisfied heap until I extricated myself to sleep in the other room since I was the one who had to work the next day.
Monday I made blueberry pancakes and we sat around chatting until I had to leave for counselling and M took Bastet to the airport.
We took the rest of Monday to recover from the rigors of the weekend. I even had a nap, in anticipation of a late night. Work was abbreviated, fortunately, even with the nap I went to be earlier than I would have on a morning shift week.
Had I been planning better, I would definitely not have booked a tattoo appointment for the day after this kind of weekend. But the appointment was booked well in advance of making plans with Bastet. It could not have been easier as far as logistics (parking is a nightmare in the city), and the artist was lovely, and her design was flawless. I got a Bataleur Eagle surrounded by King Protea representing my African family. It’s gorgeous.
3.5 hours of tattooing later I was wrecked. My restless legs were going ballistic and I could no longer control my reactions to the changes in sensation (pain, obviously, but I also found out that tattooing can also be ticklish!!)
Afterwards I stopped for Harvey’s as a treat to myself, and headed home. I had another nap. I felt like I’d been hit by a bus. Fortunately we were over-scheduled for work, so my coworker sent me home (he has to hit a certain amount of hours to get paid, whereas I do not), so I was able to have another early night. I took the bandages off the tattoo, carefully washed it in the shower. The aftercare instructions said not to moisturize for 24 hours, so the next morning I gave it another wash and then added some moisturizer, and it’s felt quite good since then.
This work week has been pretty great. Between being sent home early, and today getting stuck in a traffic jam due to an accident (the ambulance left at a subdued pace without lights or sirens, so I’m assuming people were not hurt too badly), and when I called to say I was going to be late, they told me not to bother coming in. Don’t mind if I do!!
I’m looking forward to this weekend with M. We’re committed to it being super chill, which will be easy since I’m on duty, after the rollercoaster that was Bastet’s visit. It was so good to reconnect in such an encompassing sort of way. She asked about the end of our relationship with our previous partner in the spring, and whether or not we’d consider another relationship. Both M and I feel it would have to be the right person, and we’ve always thought that Bastet might be that person, but after the events of the spring I found it a lot hard to commit to saying we would do it again. Once bitten twice shy, I guess.
