The house is gaining 1.4 - 4% a month on Zillow. I realize Zillow can be wildly inaccurate, but it’s still fun to watch. We really got lucky with this place.
The sparrows were late to eat today. Always before they arrived at the crack of dawn. Colder weather I assume. I’m slightly worried about them. I think I’ll buy a waterproof heating pad and put it out there with a water dish on it.
Don is being sugary nice. Presumably because our anniversary is eight days away. To give him credit, he’s always sweet on holidays. And he never forgets one. To the contrary, there’s a box wrapped in black paper with a purple bow, sitting on the coffee table for me to have on the 26th. So that’s nice.
I’m not a pumpkin spice prima donna, but Dunkin pumpkin spice coffee with caramel latte flavored non-dairy creamer is surprisingly good.
I spend some time looking for movies for our anniversary, and Samhain. We rarely watch new movies, so it’s not hard to find stuff we haven’t seen. (I tend to watch true crime and disaster documentaries, I love caving accidents at the moment.)
So, my end of October movies list, skewing into horror comedy:
Slayers. Out October 21, “A group of superstar influencers are drawn to a reclusive billionaire’s mansion only to find themselves trapped in the lair of an evil vampire. The only way out is to be saved by a famous online gamer and an old school vampire hunter.”
Werewolf By Night. It’s a Disney - Marvel werewolf movie. It’ll either be fun or absolutely awful.
Deadstream. “A disgraced internet personality attempts to win back his followers by livestreaming one night alone in a haunted house. But when he accidentally pisses off a vengeful spirit, his big comeback event becomes a real-time fight for his life.”
Glorious. A man gets trapped in a restroom stall with a lovecraftian eldritch god in the next stall, and a glory hole between them. The trailer looks hilarious.
Spirit Halloween. My favorite retail chain made its own movie. Of course I’ll see it.
The Dead Don’t Die. Comedy and zombies, with Bill Murray. Here’s hoping it’s as good as it looks.
Willie’s Wonderland. Nicholas Cage is a one-emotional-note actor. He’s good at being frustrated and angry. This is the sort of film he actually shines in.
The “maybes”:
Mr.Harrington’s Phone. A boy befriends an elderly man, and when said man dies, he kills the boy’s bullies from beyond the grave. Could be fun, could be tedious.
Doctor Sleep. The oldest one on the list. Of course I’ve known about it, but it looks reeeaally slow, so I’ve put off seeing it.
Of the three people who regularly comment on my entries, two are not doing well at the moment. I’m worried for you. I’m terrible at putting that into words, but I am very concerned.
