- She was Irish.
- She was Catholic.
- She was smart.
- She prized neatness.
- She wanted big things from/for me.
- Her hair got gray early.
- She had been a country school teacher.
- She liked her garden and her chickens.
- She had never learned to drive a car.
- She never went to the doctor.
- She never went to the dentist.
- She went to confession.
- She didn’t go to the library.
- Once for a short time she belonged to a cut-rate version of a book of the month club. I wish I still had her books.
- She started a study club for neighbor Catholic farm wives and named it after Kateri Tekaakwitha. Here’s a prayer to her - Kateri, not my mother. https://www.dosp.org/our-faith/prayers/prayer-to-st-kateri-tekakwitha-2/
- She had beautiful and distinctive handwriting. She knew how to spell. I could do neither.
- She made me take piano lessons.
- I am pretty certain my mother is helping me and my family avoid car accidents.
- She didn’t like cats and would not allow any kind of animal in the house.
- She was close to her parents and siblings.
I’m pretty sure I’ve done this before. But if I can’t remember you probably can’t either.
