Some really good news – I’m going to be offered a new job with a State Government agency tomorrow. Same pay as I get presently, but given that my existing pay would be going down next week anyway this is still a good thing. It’s also nominally a promotion, which nobody else in my work team has been able to obtain. In fact I am the only person within that team who has obtained another job by merit – everybody else has either transferred or has been made redundant. I have done what I was told could not be done (at least in Canberra).

I would enjoy this news far more if I weren’t so massively, impossibly stressed out with the work that I have to do this week. I was awake half of last night worrying about various deals unmade and contracts unsigned. At least there is an end to all this in sight now. And I don’t have to go through the insulting and demoralising selection process (which started this Monday).

My suburb got badly blasted by wind and rain yesterday. I absentmindedly decided to go for a jog at 7PM last night to find destroyed pathways, pushed over fences, ripped out vegetation, dead rats and various ocean flotsam strewn all over Elwood beach. This will take months to clean up.
