Zero Day Code in General

I am listening to a book I accessed for free from Audible.

Zero Day Code.

It is a fascinating hand-in-glove tale of events right on the edge of reality.

In a nutshell, global drought leads to food insecurity in China which leads China to use cyber attacks to disable the world’s ability to react to physical attacks, allowing them to disable ships and aircraft all over the world.

Meanwhile characters in Las Angeles and DC are reacting to the sudden shutdown of the internet. Credit cards don’t work. Debit cards don’t work. There is a run on banks and ATMs.

Everything becomes cash and carry. The arterial routes in and out of cities become clogged.

Riots erupt, stores are looted.

This is book one of a four book set. And I am only 25% in.

It makes me start thinking about that niggling feeling that I am not really as prepared as I should be.

I should have twice as much ammo as I have, and believe me I am well armed.

I should have ten times as many MREs as I have. I still haven’t bought that backback water camel and filter so if it came down to it, I could walk to the Androscoggin and suck up five gallons.

Break Break

I feel pretty good. This is my “Saturday Night.” My fingers have mostly healed up from last week. Nothing in my body is ringing alarm bells.

I am no closer to getting the studio set up. The wind keeps coming out of my sails because I can’t figure out what is wrong with my set up.

Brainstorming, I have considered getting professionals involved to troubleshoot my setup.

Oh yeah. My washing machine just died. Basic Whirlpool that was in the house we bought in 2002. It was 3 years old when we bought the house. I guess 25 is a good run for a washing machine.

Off to Lowe’s tomorrow.

And the rain comes down. I have candles burning.

If I were at work I would be looking at my first 15 minute break.
