Stupidity & Ignorance in Daily Dish

People truly do show their stupidity and ignorance when they share stuff on Facebook that has no validity whatsoever. It's a daily occurrence and countless people do it and they keep doing it. They claim that politicians are ruining our country, but if you think about it, it is the people that do stuff like this that are at fault. They are the ones who are too lazy to make conscience decisions and take responsibility for their actions. They are the ones who rely on someone else to make the post to begin with and then do not even think about validating it with comment before posting it.

The people who rally against those wanting stricter gun controls because they think everyone wants to take their guns away. Do they really believe that officials are going to go door to door to take their guns? That is absurd. But, they jump to that conclusion without listening to the argument. I often wonder if their child was killed in a random act of gun violence if they would be so quick to stockpile assault rifles, or who would they blame?

It is not just the commoners who are at fault. The media plays a huge role in the ignorance of society, all societies. CNN will put out a piece on how terrorists can benefit from a government shutdown. Because the people should know that. Really? There was a producer/writer/anchor/cameraman who didn't say, "Hey, do you really think it is a good idea to advertise that our cyber information and systems are vulnerable?" Sure everyone probably has already figured it out and the hackers and terrorists are probably all in a position to benefit, but do we really want to put a government official on television to give it validity? Are there no logical people in the media to figure this stuff out?

I think the most mind boggling thing to see in the world of Facebook is a person decrying US government (who is not a US citizen) preceded by a person who is posting a link to a video of Ylvis. Of course it makes me ponder why I have such a diverse range of "friends" as if I went wrong somewhere in life.

My take on politics is that if you take an active stance on issues and vote, then you are allowed to voice your concerns/complaints/what have you, so long as you do the very least to understand the issue and not just what you think it means. But, if you chose to not exercise your right as a citizen of a free country to vote, then you do not get the luxury of complaining about the government. You did nothing to change it for the better or the worse. You do not get a say. You take what you are given and you deal with that. And when you are ready, you get off your lazy ass and you vote. You take the time to educate yourself and let your voice be heard. And for the love of all, if you are NOT a US citizen, then keep your opinions about our government to yourself. You do not get to complain about our government when yours most likely has just as many problems if not more.

And that is my rant on stupidity, ignorance and the realm of politics.
