I was skimming facebook while I talked to Bubba tonight. He’s headed out on the 12 hour drive to his new job tonight and I’m his traditional chat buddy on these long drives. When he gets tired he calls. Suddenly I saw news that blew me away. Peggy, a dear, sweet lady that I taught with at my old school had passed away. She was a truly wonderful lady with an amazing singing voice. She was the special ed coordinator for our school when I worked with her and then later for the parish. She cared so much about her kids. She was also a large woman. About a year an a half ago there was a program offering free gastric bypass (or sleeve – I really don’t know what kind) surgery for those who qualified. Peggy definitely qualified and went through all the hoops for the surgery. It seemed to go fine, then suddenly 2 days ago she started feeling bad, when she went in, she was bleeding into her stomach and they didn’t know why. Long story short, they never found the source of the bleeding and she died today. She was my age. I taught both of her boys. Both have graduated (the youngest just last year). And she had a loving, doting husband. I’m still in shock. She’s just…gone…. I shared this video in honor of her on facebook. It's definitely a song Peggy would love:
