Once, upon a violet
No garden-standard rose
Deserving subtle poetries
No common purple prose
Distinct from all the others
From yearning face to rooted toes
Stretching from the deepest loam
Reaching for the sun
Water light and mineral
Much more than the sum.
This life, just like a violet
We only get one bloom
One glorious unveiling
Betwixt cradle and tomb
So let your colors fly on
Even as doubts do mount
We all get just one season
May as well make it count.
