You lie down. You lay something down.
I lie down every day for a nap.
Now I lay me down to sleep.

Consider the past tense:
I lay my head on the pillow last night and slept.
I laid my head on the pillow after I unscrewed it from my neck.

And then there is lain.

I still get confused at times and have to sit and think about this verb.

How do ESL students ever learn English?

Drink, drank, drunk:. Another fun verb.
