I just clipped my nails. It’s one of those small things I annotate on my calendar. It’s a useless thing to look back upon, yet. When is the last time you clipped your nails? How often do you do it?
If you clip your nails on the same Wednesday of the month, don’t ever call me OCD.
“Alright, Señor Timmy™, when did you last groom your digits?”
Why, thank you for asking. Apparently I last clipped my nails January 12, 2022. A Wednesday. Such thrilling information to provide to you, my good sire. I am currently not providing a female comrade with digital pleasure, so I can enjoy growing my nails out.
Finished my last session of week 5. Had my PWO milk/whey, showered, and hit up Taco Bell. Been kind of a treat lately, and I’m okay with that. I deserve treats, right? Or so I try to convince myself. (Kind of a Bush Doctrine against invasive thoughts.)
Over the years, it’s been my observation that I hit fatigue and/or burnout by week 4 or 5. It has once again held true. Gotta love the Scientific Method. That’s why I want my cycles going forward to be three weeks. First week feels new and fresh. Second week carries the momentum of the first. And easy to to finish strong in a third week. Take a breath, maybe an extra day or three off if needed, and repeat.
Hit all my marks, if it must be said. A rep on rows, two reps on inclines, a rep on chins. As I keep telling myself, it’s not one workout that does it.
Just like it’s not one cheesy poof that did that. :: pokes your foodbelly ::
Some quick math. If I run 17 cycles, that’s 51 weeks. There are not 56 weeks in a year. (For some reason, I have that number in my head - I get it wrong all the time.) 17 cycles means 16 weight increases. Lowball 5 lbs per 16, that’s 80 lbs a year. Lowball further, and assume I get half that - 40 lbs across all lifts. That would STILL be lifetime PRs, whether sets or RMs, for all my exercises.
Consistency. 23 weeks until August. I could get 7 more cycles by then. That’s 6 weight increases.
Gosh, I almost wish I didn’t have a vacation next week. I get all psyched out. “What if I LOSE MAH GAINZ.” It doesn’t really work that way - you’re supposed to come back recharged and fresh. But mentally, I’m always a little scared. Hrm. Good thing I lead with an upper day. I’m sure once I finish that I’ll be right as rain.
Sometimes I joke that you have to hate yourself a little bit to be a gymrat. That there is some part of you that looks at yourself and says “fuck this body, I want better.”
It’s ironic that I was more secure when I was a 135 lb weakling. Ha ha. I don’t think I could drop my weight that low unless I got a mild case of dying. Alas, smallpox is effectively extinct.
Well, maxing out aside, I’ll try to clear my head of lifting stuff. Does take up a lot of headspace. I said try, I’ll probably end up doing lateral raises on the cruise. And, as per the last two, will DEFINITELY be taking the stairs constantly.
Don’t get me on a tangent of how, when I get to my next squat/dead checkpoint/minigoal, I’d love to focus more on growing a big ass. I want the cutest white bum in the entire galaxy.
