Pricey Thursday in Adventures in paradise

It was one of my workmates last shift at work last night, and as luck would have it, he managed to injure himself. I was on lunch (which was weird for me as I haven't worked a shift long enough to entitle a lunch break in such a long time) when he walked into the room and asked me, "Am I bleeding?" There was a red mark on his forehead, at which I told him, "Yeah," and he went to the bathroom to check it out.

He came back and sat in the staff room for a while, and he didn't exactly look comfortable. I suggested to him that he should go to the hospital because it can't hurt to get an all-clear, you know, just to be on the safe side.

I actually thought he was going to go home early as he was talking about getting one of the other staff guys to let us all out, but I was stunned to find he was still hanging around after my lunch break had ended, which was only a half hour, but still. He was sitting on the ground upstairs, head in hands, strained look on his face. Poor fella.

Me and another staff member went over to the bakery to the ice machine and filled up a bag full. I went back and handed it to him, although he should have had it at least 40 minutes earlier when it happened. How it happened, he says, is he must've been changing the bailer and something snapped and he moved his head back to avoid it hitting him, but then he moved his head forward, he ran into something. Poor fella, on his last shift too. I made a lighthearted joke saying that he was trying to get workers compensation, but look how well my lighthearted jokes have gone this week for me! :P Another staff member held his fingers up and asked how many there were, and he laughed at that, but I guess his joke happened when he wasn't in as much pain :)

So, hopefully he's doing alright. I didn't actually get to give him a formal goodbye, as our manager came back to work later into the shift (because he didn't want to have to deal with the alarms going off) and let us all out when 1am came around. The injured workmate made it to the end of the shift, so good on him for that. I just do hope he went to the hospital after work, as the body doesn't lie when it tells you it's in pain, right?

In other news, it turns out I'm off to the Goldy on Thursday now. I'm doing a lot of shifts this week because of the departed workmate, but I'm going to assume they'll hire a new staff member sometime soon, as that usually seems to be the case. But because I got to work earlier yesterday, I got to see the grocery manager and the nightfill manager in the staff room talking over how they needed to replace hours, and it happened to be on the nights I have off, so I just said, "If you need me to work, just ask me." haha. The grocery manager also asked if I studied, and the only reason they ask that is to see if I'm available to be called in. Later on in the night, my manager asked if I wanted to work the next three Wednesdays, and I got a text earlier on asking if I want to work tonight haha, so I guess it was easier for them to just do that. Wednesday is the middle day of my days off, so that sucks, but it's only 5 hours out of my time, really.

It might be all in vain though. I still have Thursday off, and Ayden asked if I wanted to go to Seaworld that day. I've looked up prices, and it's $90 to get in! FUCK! Last time I went there it was only $75ish haha, and even that was expensive. And I looked at the VIP pass's, but there's really not much point paying the extra $10 when it runs out on June 30th THIS YEAR. If there was a next year option, it might be more feasible, but there just isn't yet. So looks like I'll be paying the tourist rip off price. I kind of think it might be nice to hang out with Ayden, but this time just not as a housemate. He might be a different person even, who knows, and it'll only be a few hours, so I still agreed to go with him. Also, later on that night, I'm heading to a shopping centre to catch up with a group of friends I haven't seen in a while, so hopefully that'll be okay. I mean, it'll be something to do at least, and it's better than me being stuck at home. I've been doing WAY too much of that lately because, well it's just cheaper to be sensible I figured. But Thursday will be an expensive day, with public transport costs and theme park entry fees plus whatever I buy at the shops, which will more than likely be nothing. So I'm not complaining about these extra hours at all really.

I think that's about all I wanted to write for now.
