My FIL passed away this a.m., about 9:30 I think. Even tho we were expecting it for a while, still is a shock and thought he would still be hanging on. He was communicative yesterday, even sitting up. This a.m. When the nurses came in to see how he was, he said he was ok. My MIL went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and when she came out, he looked different---too quiet she said. Dhe called the nurses and he had indeed passes. Very quietly. Jeff took it hard. We were able to get the arrangements done for cremation---his wishes and there will be a memorial service, but do not know when. I have a sil and bil in PA, do not know if or when they would come. We will go home Sunday---possibly Monday, altho I do not like traveling on a holiday, but we do not have much choice. Ifamemorial service is in a few weeks, we will just have to do a drive down Friday night and then return on a Sunday. We will see what is decided.
Anyway, it is over, he went relatively peacefully and life continues on.
Yesterday, the 21st, was the third anniversary of my mom's passing. Life continues on.

His journey on this earth is done. May his soul rest in peace. It seems fitting to do a memorial on Memorial Day. :) My condolences for your loss. I'm glad the passing was gentle. HUGS

Put the words "Flash Friday" in your title somewhere. I doubt I'll turn that one into a short story. It was just a writing exercise for me. Leaving it as a cliff hanger seems right to me. What DOES happen to poor Scott? Makes the reader think about bullying.

I'm glad he went peacefully. I guess it's all any of us can ask. Condolences to the family and all who loved and cared for him.
