Right in the middle of dinner prep, the microwave died. The latch on the handle that is. It did give us 24 years of good service. Old indeed. It could be repaired, but the new microwaves have 1200 Watts in 2.0 cubic foot. And the old one was one cubic foot at 700 Watts. I always had a nagging worry that the food we cooked in the old one wasn’t quite cooked enough.
First thing this morning we were off to his teeth cleaning appointment. Then Costco for gas, and we thought we could get a new microwave there too. Nope, only over the stove models. Home Depot had only over the stove models, as did Dixie Line. On our way to the next two spots, Walmart and Best Buy, we stopped in at Appliance Alley. They had one. Everything else is off the coast on one of 87 ships waiting to unload in LA or Long Beach.
It may be black and chrome, but we bought it and it fit. Can’t ask for more than that.
- Himself: Went to a lot of effort to get us a new microwave. Men’s meeting tonight.
- Myself: Took a book and went along. A grey dark day. It’s cold too.
- Reading: After reading a historical survey of the much loved liner < http://ssmaritime.com/canberra.htm SS Canberra> I began reading “A Very Strange Way To Go To War” by Andrew Vine. Not really very well written, but a fascinating read anyway.
- Watching: 60 Minutes. Mary Berry on KPBS.
- Photo: Mine: Stripy Balls and one of G’s mother’s bears on the camel chests.
- Gratitude: I worried about returning that call, and no one answered. LOL
