What was the last thing you read?

The next person you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom.

A sequel to “The five people you meet in heaven”.

I held off reading the book for two years but finally gave in during the long lockdowns.
I finished the entire book in one sitting and in retrospect, that was a huge mistake.
The book is emotionally devastating and completely different from the predecessor.

While the first book was like floating on a happy cloud with tears of joy and loving every moment of it, the second book felt like a Nine Inch Nails, Guns N Roses song combined.

I was not ready for a sequel that has grown up, found its voice and made peace with the pain and suffering.

It just won’t stop raining like it felt. Felt so melancholic and hopeless. So well written.
Overall the book was a fantastic read, although it felt far more mature, far more brutal than the first book.

I wasn’t in a vulnerable state when I read the book, perhaps it triggered regrets and kicked open the box of repressed memories.

The first book felt like it was introducing the idea of heaven as a place of finality, peace and closure.

This book felt like there’s still life, learning and change; even in heaven.
And that even heaven is not heaven, without the right person.
