I changed my mind in Site Updates

No Facebook like button. Especially now that I've added the following mission statement to the front page (pre-login):

Create. Share. Anonymously.

FB is not anonymous and I don't want to send mixed signals. Hey, it was late last night, and I thought FB bling would be cool. Seemed less cool today.

But you are still more than welcome to like the Prosebox Facebook page. Or lurk there anonymously.

I'm glad. It slowed page loading a bit, too.

Yeah, we don't need that.

Cat Mommy September 28, 2013

Excellent mission statement and I totally do not stand by it, lol. Anyone can wander in and figure out who I am but I'm ok with that. :)

Exercising your right to change your mind = priceless.

applauds

Either way works for me. I liked the FB page anyways. But at the same time.. I'm still a mystery or am I?

haredawg drools September 28, 2013

Excellent choice.

Kate September 28, 2013

Thanks. I like it better this way.

Lepetit pumpkinesque September 28, 2013

Good. I always worried on Od that I would somehow send it to fb. No one knows I diary.

Leanne 🌈 September 28, 2013

Glad to see FB gone. :)

i have to admit i could tell it went against the idea of prosebox.... good idea. it seems hard to build something without facebook these days. but people did it before facebook. so up and at it!

I need tea. September 29, 2013

Thanks!

Still, it would be nice to have a button that said, "Hey I was here and read your entry" without having to write anything if you choose.

simple mind Deleted user ⋅ September 29, 2013

Yeah, I've been thinking about a feature like that for a while. I think people knowing that people are reading without the confirmation of a comment would definitely be a boost.

StarShip 27/9 September 29, 2013

~ little grin ~ It surely is ok to change and be flexible. In fact I for one am impressed that you are able to backtrack as realizations happen and alignment with a mission is important.

In otherwords ~ Cool Beans!! And my appreciation.

Yeah, pride can get in the way if you let it. I like to think that's a positive trait of mine, the ability to say, "Ok, yeah, that wasn't a great idea. Back to the drawing board." :)

StarShip 27/9 simple mind ⋅ September 29, 2013

for some people it might be pride that DOES get in the way.... I have been known in past lives to allow fear of being rejected for failing to get in my way. Lessons learned.

At any rate I like this drawing board you have. :D

A couple things about the ads. Is it possible to make them open in a new tab/window? I hate when I decide to click on one for some reason and then I lose my place on the site. Second, I clicked on the Threadless ad that was above the comments box on a friend's entry and it wouldn't go to the site! it was like it wanted me to surf their site on that little ad, and it was not shaped correctly or something. And it would NOT go to the website. So the heck with it, I wasn't THAT interested in those hoodies! lol (not sure if you can do anything about the second one, but thought I would put it out there.)

simple mind Princess Buttercup ⋅ September 30, 2013

First of all, it's great that there's ad content you are interested in and clicking on! That helps out, so thank you!

Unfortunately, how they work is pretty much beyond my control. I just drop the codes into my web pages and the actual content is generated by someone else. But I can review just to verify there's nothing I'm doing on my end to mess things up.

I was shocked when my PB entry showed up on a friend's FB page. Different sites, different audiences. I think you made the right choice.

GOOD MAN.

Cat Mommy October 03, 2013

Lots of application errors tonight, m'Lord. Just thought you'd want to know. :)
