Oubliette
There is a scene in the movie “Labrinth” where Hoggle explains to Sarah what a Oubliette was:
“Yes. It’s a place you put people… to forget about ‘em!”
Apparently in my home I have a multitude of Oubliettes. Too many closets, places to put stuff and forget it is there.
Nothing like the scare that you might have to move to start opening the Oubliettes. Good gawd aw-mighty <sic> don’t I have a lot of useless shit hiding in the corners.
One two punch. I went full Keto on Sunday. By Tuesday I was fully in ketosis.
Two things happen when I go into ketosis: I suddenly have a ridiculous amount of energy and enthusiasm regarding whatever my current, however temporary endeavor entails, And…</sic>
My sleep goes to shit. I spent the better part of the week in perpetual motion, moving from the time I got out of the shower until I went to bed.
I am some forty trips to Good Will so far. News to the world: Hardback books are heavy. I’ve gone from three full bookcases, to three shelves. I gave the rest away.
I had 48 storage bins in the garage – full of everything from paperbacks, to tow chains, to winter clothes that will never fit my daughter again, to picture frames that were never used. All gone.
Getting rid of shit is strangely liberating, because – and this is just a supposition – because there is less stuff tying me to the “here.” Meaning – if I am still here. It is because I want to be here, and stuff doesn’t matter. Some weird Zen shit going on here.
I stumbled into a problem.
One of my closets, or Oubliettes if you are actually reading, is nothing but utility uniforms. A dozen flight suits, four DCUs, four WCUs. Most have my name and rank, and wings embossed. My mother offered to take a stitch ripper to the insignia while watching TV. I supposed I will take her up on the offer.
I’m going up to ‘Salem’s Lot tomorrow to see the latest of the family. My nephew and his wife just had their first and only child. That kid is going to be so spoiled.
If you have ever watched TV lately you have seen the “New Day USA” commercials.
I called them today. Two hours on the phone, a few emails back and forth. Application is now with their broker. Dude says he sees no problems. I should be preapproved by Monday. I’ve already signaled my interest to the office ie my across the street neighbor, who told me the owners would be in touch.
Right now I am acting “as if…”
It has to be a weird corollary to affirmations, but if I start acting like it will happen, it happens.
I was up at 550 this morning. I had a blood draw in front of a physical next week. Bang shangalang in and out in three minutes.
I am ridiculously healthy. I have plenty of energy and nothing hurts, Wearing glasses sucks, especially considering being 20/10 most of my life. Fifteen years of using osteo bi-flex and I have no joint problems. Not bad for 59. I am indeed a fortunate one.
Mostly genetics. I have crappy skin, but strangely when I go strict keto, my skin clears up in days. Makes me wonder if I am gluten intolerant.
