I don't wanna totally not have a life, you know? in Adventures in paradise

Last night I went over to Alex's place, as we'd organised earlier in the week to catch up for dinner. He used to live in the outer suburbs, but now lives just over in West End, so he told me to just catch the CityGlider to the very last stop, so I did that. I left too early though and got there around 6:15pm when I was meant to meet him at 7pm.

He met me at the bus stop. It's been about two weeks since I saw him last. He's a pretty cool guy. Not sure how much I've actually spoken about him here, but I guess with all the re-posting of my past entries, I realised how honest I was in my entries back then, and it's kind of sad how I'm nowhere near as open about things here now. Prosebox will never be OD, I know that, and there's a whole new set of people here I don't know who may potentially read me. I guess it is a nice thing however that there are some others who have crossed over to here who are a familiar face/read, and if they can do it, so should I.

I got to meet his cat. That may not seem like such a big deal, but it really was for me. He adores his cat, and rightfully so. I have never seen such a beautiful cat in my entire life. This particular image isn't his cat, but it's fairly close to it - his is much prettier. Snowshoe Cat At first, she was a bit shy of me and scampered away whenever I got too close. It didn't bother me at all. I know what cats are like. She just had to warm up to me. And she did, eventually.

We went out to dinner to a Vietnamese restaurant, which was packed. I ordered the crispy skin chicken, although it wasn't really that great. I'm a bit annoyed I didn't order something more cultural. Alex had the dish they were famous for and said he gets it all the time, which was a rare beef soup. He ordered a coconut drink for me too which was quite yummy. When I went to pay, the lady said my order was $14.70. Considering my meal alone was $13 plus I'd ordered friend rice and my drink, I knew it wasn't right, but paid it anyway. She realised her mistake and said I had to pay another $10 something. It didn't bother me at all. I guess I was just hoping I'd get away with her mistake :P I was happy to pay what I owed.

We went back to Alex's and he said I was welcome to stay the night if I wanted. We watched a movie - "Saving Mr Banks", and I was very impressed with it. I'm quite intrigued about that author's other books now, and I was especially impressed that tiny Queensland towns like Nobby (where I've been a few times) were included as part of a major Hollywood film. After that, we watched an episode of South Park, which I'd seen before but am happy to watch again. It was the Kim Kardashian being a hobbit one :P I introduced him to Drawn Together, as he'd never seen it before. I think he's a fan haha.

We went to bed fairly early, for my usual liking anyway, which was around 1am I think. We had a pretty amazing hookup, but I don't go into details, I'll just leave it as it being damn good. We woke up around 8am or so, and got ready pretty quickly to go and grab some breakfast down the main street of West End. I forget the name of the place we went to, but I had the Eggs Benedict. It seemed a little cold for my liking, but the chai latte was nice. Can't go past a good chai latte!

He was saying he wants to join the Anytime Fitness gym near his place. I'm still majorly trying to decide on which gym chain to join or rejoin. Jetts is the only only one that seems to advertise it's rates online - the other's make you ring them to find out. I said it last time and I'll say it again, but for my business personally, it doesn't come across as good, and I'll probably end up at Jetts again because of it. Jetts hasn't been a bad gym, but it's moreso that I haven't been at a gym since my membership ran out in January now, and it is now friggin MAY. Yikes. I don't feel my workouts at home are anywhere near as beneficial, although my weight is remaining around the same, so I am very thankful for that. My diet hasn't changed all that much, and remains mostly healthy.

After breakfast with Alex, I hugged him goodbye at the bus stop and caught the bus back the other way. It was good to see him again (3rd time now) and said we'll catch up again soon. We have really good intellectual conversations. He's quite mature for a guy his age. He said, "I'm a simple guy - I like my games, my computer and my cat. That's all I need." Cute! He sent me a message saying "Hope you enjoy the rest of your day," which was nice. I was still feeling like a zombie though. I am never awake at 8am unless I'm going to bed at that time HA! The morning air felt amazing though - so cool and fresh. Maybe it's just because Winter is knocking on our doorstep, although it wasn't overly cold yet.

I did some groceries and went home and pulled my clothes off the line, as well as my big blanket that I washed. It's a thick brown blanket that I use every Winter when it starts to get cold, but it spends about 7 months of the year cooped up in a linen cupboard, so always smells musky and I have to wash it. It only just fits into the washing machine on it's own, it's such a big thick blanket. It's nice to have it all washed and dried though, although I'm not sure when I'll actually replace my doona on my bed with it however.

I looked at how much money I have left after dinner last night and breakfast this morning and my groceries. I couldn't actually see the authorization from the groceries I'd just paid for, which was weird. It wasn't even listed there. Oh well, I used what money I had left to pay off more of my credit card. That has been my number one priority lately, and after this payment, I've managed to get it down from the original $1400ish (after my laptop and phone etc) down to $188.99. Woohoo! Although I'm pretty sure there'll be an internet payment on that as well, so may as well say it's probably $220, but that's not bad hey? Slowly but surely I've seen sacrificing fun weekends out where I could have been blowing my cash on pissing it back in a trough later, but instead I've been being sensible. Hopefully, just hopefully, I'll have it down to a zero balance by June. Maybe mid-june if there's a bill coming from the landlord, I'm not sure. So excited! Then I should be able to start living again.

My manager actually asked me if I could work last night, but since I'd made plans with Alex, I decided to actually say no for once. I wasn't going to let my new friend down, and thought to myself, "You know what? Money's money." Sure, I would have gone in if I was just sitting at home doing nothing (like I usually am these days), but I just hold hope I'll get called in another time when it's more convenient. Besides, if I had have gone in, I wouldn't have had such a good time with Alex and meeting his cat haha. I think she'd warmed up to me though, because when we woke up this morning, she was curled up at the end of the bed between us. I didn't even realise she was there, so just as well I didn't accidentally boot her off during the night haha!

I pretty much fell asleep after doing my domestics at home, and napped most of the afternoon. I felt so much better waking up. I'm not sure why, maybe it was just because I was in a different bed to my own and I was awake earlier than usual, but I'm glad I had a sleep. Who knows when I'll pass out again tonight again though.

Vish and James just left too. They came over to show me the Real Housewives Of Melbourne Reunion finale show and RuPaul's Drag Race Countdown To The Crown. I actually can't pick who's going to win this year, although I will be surprised if Bianca doesn't win it.
It was nice to see them again. Apparently they ran into Darin at Toombul and got into an argument over him, for some stupid reason, I dunno. I said to them, "Gee it's only Darin, who cares?" lol. So yeah, Vish was in a bit of a mood.
He said we should go to pancakes, as we haven't been there in a while. I probably won't get much, as I still need to be sensible, but I don't want to totally not have a life, you know?
