So much happening (part 2) in At the foot of the hill

Along toward morning they finally got him moved to probably the best Trauma Center in the metro. They held him there in ER for several hours before they got a room ready for him.
Immediate testing (X-rays and MRI) confirmed that the vertebrae was indeed cracked, just a small crack. It would not require surgery, but a few months in a neck brace. Other injuries, none that they thought were serious, were treated and assessed.
Poor Mike (no sleep except for cat naps in very uncomfortable chairs) decided that Bob was in good hands and went home mid-morning.
Bob called me about 5:30 PM and told me they were discharging him. He was really thinking that he needed more help than he and I could handle so they let him spend the night. He came home about noon the next day. I was good with that decision.
Now, remember. He is on oxygen 24/7. Weak as a newborn kitten.
He is getting stronger every day.
