Enough with the Oregon Coast pictures already! Been there, done that. :)
Because of the recent (and currently ongoing) rains the iris are getting pretty battered out there. I so live on my own flower clock this time of year. This morning I saw some rangy unattended roses starting to bloom. And the clematis vines are in full flower; early poppies (also rain abused) and the rhododendrons are at their gorgeous peak. Even the two pretty ornamental locust trees across the street are staring to produce their beautiful clusters of dark pink flowers that look almost orchid like.
Speaking of orchids, the meditation room that I teach the caregiver class in has a couple of beautifully lit recesses that contain live white orchids. They must be endowed, those orchids. Someone takes good care of them and changes them out when they drop too many petals. I had one student this week, a bright young mom who hadn’t been in the room before and was fascinated by the light sculpture, the elevator noise (who puts a meditation room next to a bank of elevators?) and the orchids.
I love teaching this class because I have no clue who is going to attend and it is rare to get anyone who has any exposure to yoga before. This young woman is very large and I was happy for the prep I had done and for all my current and previous large students as I am able to be more effective in terms of helpful modifications. I adored her and truly enjoyed working with her.
Speaking of teaching I am going to head off to the studio now… I hope I don’t get too wet getting over there.
