Roller Derby in Diary

I had my first roller derby session yesterday. I loved it and can't wait to go back. Everyone was really friendly, helpful and patient and I'm surprised how much I learnt in a short space of time. Two ways of stopping, how to fall safely, tapping your knee on the ground and keep going, weaving feet in and out to propel forwards. AND I only fell over once and I even got praised for that for falling properly, haha. The next session is on Wednesday and I'm really looking forward to it. Today I have big bruises on my knees, from practicing falling and presumably doing it wrong from falling too hard, and my inner thighs are aching so I'm walking like John Wayne.

We can borrow kit for the first four weeks and then we have to buy our own, but it could get expensive. Decent skates, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards and mouth guard, I'm looking at £200+. But skates CAN cost £600 for top quality, eeek! Plus £5 a session twice a week :o/ I hope my business takes off when I start it up so I can afford to go!

They have a bout on 17th May so me and Jay are going to watch, see if I can pick up some tips ;o)

I'm glad today was a public holiday, the weekend went so quickly! I've spent today recovering and finishing off my fifth Domestic Pet Care essay; only one more to go and I've finished!

81 working days remain.
