I went to see my new baby today. I think its a female but i asked the breeder to do DNA sexing for me. It was only 40, So i told her to put it on my bill for the bird and ill pay it off soon. She said my baby has maybe another week or so before its ready to come home. Its down to one hand feeding a day and is eating solids really nicely. So i really HAVe to get that cage ordered when i get my microscopic pay check next week. Shit… Haha, i told her worse case i do have a bunny cage that will work. Its secure, made of very sturdy wire, has a pull out tray i can cover with paper and it locks. So it will be an adequate cage and she agreed that for a temporary cage it would be fine. We bought 6 lbs of feed which she said should last this baby for 2 months. and a couple of toys for small parrots. We got a coconut shell toy and little girl picked out a swing and a disco ball lol. I also got a bunch of jute twine, Im going to start making rope bridges and ladders out of it. :) We are already planning on what we are going to get next bird wise. As in, yeah we wont just stop at mine and little girls cockatiel. We are figuring on at least two ring necks. The more i watch them on you tube, the more excited i am.
It kept wanting to fly lol. The breeder says she clips two flight feathers before they go home. Just so that they can get comfortable without flying away. We will be allowing the birds to learn to fly and likely wont clip flight feathers after this.
because they are hand fed. Mama bird is the breeder. They are used to her. Anyone else is scary. She said once they come home they bond with the person and chill out. But i held it like this, It chomped on my purse a few times and eh. Its leather lol.
Ok back to the bird cage search!
