Roses Next on the Flower Clock in Everyday Ramblings

Enough with the Oregon Coast pictures already! Been there, done that. :)

Because of the recent (and currently ongoing) rains the iris are getting pretty battered out there. I so live on my own flower clock this time of year. This morning I saw some rangy unattended roses starting to bloom. And the clematis vines are in full flower; early poppies (also rain abused) and the rhododendrons are at their gorgeous peak. Even the two pretty ornamental locust trees across the street are staring to produce their beautiful clusters of dark pink flowers that look almost orchid like.

Speaking of orchids, the meditation room that I teach the caregiver class in has a couple of beautifully lit recesses that contain live white orchids. They must be endowed, those orchids. Someone takes good care of them and changes them out when they drop too many petals. I had one student this week, a bright young mom who hadn’t been in the room before and was fascinated by the light sculpture, the elevator noise (who puts a meditation room next to a bank of elevators?) and the orchids.

I love teaching this class because I have no clue who is going to attend and it is rare to get anyone who has any exposure to yoga before. This young woman is very large and I was happy for the prep I had done and for all my current and previous large students as I am able to be more effective in terms of helpful modifications. I adored her and truly enjoyed working with her.

Speaking of teaching I am going to head off to the studio now… I hope I don’t get too wet getting over there.

I'd like to be in your class.

"who puts meditation room next to the elevators?" Evidently someone who can go deeply into the meditative state and hears nothing!

Your flower clock is about a month behind mine... we are going to have to replace the winter annuals with summer soon. This week the star jasmine is in full bloom an the scent is nothing short of heaven. You are such a good teacher. I'm only sorry it took so long for you to get to it! I'm sure it is the right time though.

It's wonderful that you're able to include all sizes and abilities in your class--- that's how all classes should be.

I am currently experiencing a WE ARE SO BEHIND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD syndrome as far as spring goes. Dogwoods are starting to bloom, and some azaleas... and I have one tulip!! But having been "down the mountain" quite a few times in the past couple of weeks, I've seen how everyone else has actual green real live leaves on the trees. And I AM JEALOUS.
