Um Ma in Stuff

Mum sent us kids through a photo of Ma sitting in her chair in her home. It was side-on so could only see a side profile, but I still understood that she was maybe scared.
Mum said the doctor said she’s lost weight. My parents think she’s not eating. Vicki makes sure she eats and has meds but she lives in outback Queensland and hasn’t been able to get back to Ma’s on account of the floods. The creek has her blocked in.
The doctor took dad aside and told him that Ma will start bleeding from the mouth and have difficulty breathing soon, and to ring an ambulance when that happens.
It doesn’t help that Pittsworth doesn’t have a hospital in town. She’d have to go to Toowoomba, a 30-minute trip at normal speed.
Dad, being dad, passed this information onto her. Mum said she looked shocked.
Of course she’d have been shocked! To find out you’ll bleed from the mouth and not be able to breathe normally. Yikes. I really hope her mental health is okay upon hearing that information.
Mum said that Ma is praying that she dies before that happens. She’s a very religious woman. Maybe and hopefully, she will go how she wants to.

So this lockdown doesn’t help my situation. I’m holding off cancelling the hire car until the premier’s announcement tomorrow afternoon. But I don’t get a good feeling our restrictions will be lifted. She’s just giving false hope for the Easter holidays. I feel it will be a repeat of last time with a further 10-days of mask wearing. I may still be able to travel but the advice will be not to Unless she’s feeling generous over Easter.
I went in to help out today at work and I didn’t miss that stuffy feeling of breathing in the same air inside my mask my entire shift at all!
Anyway, I don’t feel right travelling from a hotspot. A further 39 venues were added to the CoVid venues list today. Three are about 200 metres from my house. Thankfully I wasn’t at any of them on those days or times.
One of the cases is a Gold Coast tradie who also works as a stripper. He’d attended a hens night down in Byron Bay, which is how they have their cluster down there now. There’s been a few laughs about how “Gold Coast” that situation is.
It’s Byron’s first brush with CoVid until now. It’s the area a few Hollywood A-listers have moved to in recent years/months.

Anyway. Ma might pass before I can visit her, on account of the restrictions. I’m not sure how I’m meant to think about that.
