Farm Life Trigger Warning
Talk of animal death ahead.

Well i havent had a litter with any kind of genetic abnormality yet. I havent seen spina bifida (lethal) or a tripod, or worse… brains exposed or conjoined twins ect.
I have my first genetic defect today.

This little girl was born with her leg backwards. At first i thought club foot, but im not entirely sure. Its more like the paw is upside down and the leg is wrong… It could be clubbed. Im just not entirely sure. Its eating and moving, But i know as it gets to be an adult unless special care is taken to find it a home where it can be cared for properly. ts going to suffer… Sigh. My breeder friends are urging me to cull now at 24 hours. Its easier and more humane. And the remaining healthy 9 have a better chance…

I hate this. This is the hardest part. Its hard for them to go off to new homes. But this part. Culling a bunny, that is the hardest part. Shes a broken tort. Shes going to be beautiful. White with fawn and brown streaks and spots. They are faint but already growing in after a day.... The chances of finding her a special needs home who is going to make sure she is properly cared for, wool on top of the foot. The foot that will rub on the ground wrong without having the protective padding the bottom of the foot has. The sores that she will get from it. Yes its possible that she can live a healthy happy life. But she cant be bred.. She can produce wool.
Im going to see what it looks like tomorrow. But i have very little hope.... Finding homes for healthy ones is hard enough.
