And the crap just keeps coming... in Life

Literally.... Crappy landlord is here fixing the crappy plumbing. Saturday I was washing dishes and had just drained the sink when the smell hit…I knew what it meant and turned to the bathroom to catch it. It was the worst it has been – sewage water was coming under the bathroom door. I grabbed almost every towel I own and threw it down. Because of the unlevel flooring it goes along the bathroom wall and then right into the carpet of the spare room. It’s never been sewage before – but it was this time. Once I got the flow stopped I started mopping it up. (And cussing and crying at the same time.) There’s nothing like throwing up in the commode knowing you can’t flush it. It’s never backed up into my tub, it did this time. Sewage. Solid sewage…. I barely made the commode but all I could think was – don’t throw up in the tub because it’ll just come back on the floor. I tried all weekend to get the landlord. Nothing. My parents came over yesterday and my dad tried to snake the blockage out for me. In the rest of the world, the cleanout valve is a 4 inch pipe. Not here. He has a 2 inch pipe. No self respecting plumber’s snake will fit in there. (I have a tiny one for kitchen drains. It fit, but didn’t do anything.) I finally got the landlord this morning. He said he was sorry and he’s come as soon as he could. We had some rough weather near here today. Some rain here and we got some pretty serious hail at school. The kids were gone, it was just a few teachers left. I just knew that meant he wouldn’t come this evening, but he surprised me. He showed up about an hour and a half ago and told he was here working. He came to the door about 10 minutes ago and said he was finished and it should hold for a while. He also told me he was calling a plumber to come see if he could figure out why this keeps happening. I’m not holding my breath, but that would make me soooo happy. Of course this happens about once a year and I’m praying to be out of here before it happens again, so, we’ll see. I’m out another bathmat and 6 or 7 towels. I refuse to wash sewage filled towels and then use them again. There’s not enough bleach in the world!!!
