As we got ready to do it began to rain, a short but hard rain storm and it was gone, we walked down wet steps to the car, as we made our way out of Perranporth the roads became dry; seems we had just got the edge of a storm passing! When we arrived at the Agility field the field we parked in last week was closed to us, I for one was quite happy to see it closed, I had a car stuck in mud at an air show; it was a very wet day and by shows end two hundred cars were stuck! As each car was pulled out they left leaving a little more on the roads, my car was never quite the same again; so we were there to get a firm corner to park.

Since our wash-out last Sunday the weather had improved markedly, with exception of our wet Saturday we didn’t have much rain, so we walked onto the agility under a clear sunny sky. Ziggy wasn’t very settled as he had been last week, he was happy and enjoyed mixing with other dog and their owners. This Dog Show was a family show, so nothing like an event organised by the Kennel Club, Ziggy got a roseate’s for the longest hairy ears and completing a round of the agility course.

Lola won two reseats, one a third for a dog would like to take home, and a second for a clear round of the agility course! Both Ziggy and Lola seem to be well liked at the class, several coming to see Ziggy and are ok with an exited welcome! And when Lola won her third place roseate for the dog the judge would like to take home, there was a cheer for her. I think Lola enjoyed rolling on her back and getting a muddy stain on her back.

I’m not sure how many clear rounds on the agility course, certainly not many, there was over an hour of compositions before the agility started, so I think some of the dogs were suffering from boarding, most of the dogs seemed not interested by the time they got in the field. Again they had a raffle to raise money for a Greyhound Charity, I always buy £5 worth and generally win three of four times, this time it was two wins, a tube of crisps [chips in the USA] and a very small konga!

We had to at home, one Ziggy sized and a Lola sized, there was a family their with a four month old Chiwawa - Dachshund cross, so I passed it on, he won a roseate for the dog with the shortest tail; and he could have won the shortest legs and certainly cutest dog in show!

All in all a much better show than last week, these show are good fun for all, every one happy to win and see others win, a child with a young dog will win; both win and encouragement. There should be more like this, people gathering to enjoy a shared interest

And that all for now folks ……..
