Rentry in Everyday Ramblings

If you have any experience with the Oregon Coastline you will know that blue is not a color you would normally associate with it. Gray of course, some green but not blue. That is why this somewhat blurry picture is so appealing to me. This was early Friday morning.

Other than a couple of squalls and one episode of gale force wind that included some rambunctious hail, the full three days away where mild and easy to be out in. I did employ my rain pants one day but they were not absolutely necessary.

I saw my brother; (yes I have a brother), for the first time in over fifteen years on the way back. He was staying at Kes and Most Honorable’s as cat sitter extraordinaire with reporting duties while Most Honorable was down with us. There was a delay in his joining us because of both tests to grade and the tile guy was working on their kitchen remodel.

We were cordial, the brother and I. He lives down in the same town Kes and Most Honorable do and has a job he loves at the Habitat for Humanity re-store.

Everything is just bursting with green here with all the gorgeous new leaves on the trees. We are in for a dry and unusually warm week. Just like everywhere else our weather is unstable and unpredictable. Warm will be most welcome. I am not so sure about hot, but we shall see.

As I was addressing the invasion of sugar ants that made themselves at home and drove my cat sitter and Sammy crazy while I was gone, Most Honorable tried unplugging and plugging things into work computer, docking station, router and modem land here and then we restarted everything.

The net result of all this tinkering is that my work phone is now fully operational!!!

It is a miracle.

I am almost certain we could not replicate what he did so we are leaving the cords all exactly where they are. What a concept, after five weeks, I have a fully operational system and am now home three full days a week and in the early morning on the other two. I still go in for meetings. I had one today and have two tomorrow so it not like people don’t see me.

They are playing games in Women’s Circle tonight. I am skipping the festivities to take care of some of the endless things to do on my list. But having the technical “stuff” addressed is a huge weight off my mind.

May and June are always my favorite months of the year and I have every intention of enjoying them fully this year and being much more active. Oh yeah.

Kes and I both came back from vacation with our weight down a bit. Double extra bonus!

I hope to get around to note soon.

Yay for good technical karma and a good re-entry!

Hope you convince the ants to go away on vacation. Give Sammy an ear skritch for me.

Love the photo. I like how that rock is so serene and yet you know it has survived when all else around it crumbled. Oh to hear it's story. Hail and gale force winds-how exciting. We had some wind and I worried about the umbrellas tipping.

sugar ants? Are they the tiny ones that smell when crushed?
Maui Jim lives on the Oregon Coast....were you anywhere near where he is? hugs p

Maui Jim lives quite a bit south of where we were, closer to California. It is a beautiful coastline but he has some different trees and birds than we do in the more northern part of the state. We were about two hours west and south of Portland and he is more like seven hours away.

Glad you had a good trip!

When we vacationed away from FL I always lost weight--we walked everywhere. Sounds like a good break and an even better homecoming re: electronic connections being successful. Have you ever watched the film Three, directed by the novelist James Salter? I am and it is framed in ways that reflect his fiction, the attention to detail and repressed/fulfilled sexuality...lovely views of Europe--two young men and a young woman traveling one summer ....Visually fantastic. I'm watching it now.

Pretty!!!! I am SO BEHIND, I've barely been on PB for weeks. But good to hear your break was so nice. And you got to see your brother. I bet that was odd. I always come back from vacations lighter thanks to all the walking and lack of focus on food.

Hooray for a working work phone! I'd not touch the magic connections either.

I have a painting that reminds me of your picture. I will have to Photograph it so you can see it. Yeah for Most Honorable !!! I went ten years without talking to my Father or brothers. My Father because he hurt my feelings terribly and my brothers because he so obviously prefers them to me. I am so glad I came to my senses and all is well between all of us now. Maybe this meeting will spark more communication between you and your brother now. I hope so. I love June and July. May can be lovely but here in Illinois May can also be treacherous because of the storms.

Speaking of weight I came to the conclusion a couple of days ago that I am getting a little chunky again so I have to cut back more. Hoping gardening season will get it off of me too.
