14: Build your ideal town.

I’ve occasionally thought about this. There are so many damn things wrong in this world, I have started to wish there was a way I could just have a place with all my loved ones and such to be safe.

I’d like to be able to use trade as a form of currency. Mind you, there will still be a small need for regular currency, but if we have people farming, edible animals, bakers…everyone can barter. Honestly, that’s how I grew up on the reservation. We all traded the food stuffs we got from the government because some people didn’t eat the beans (like my family), and others didn’t like the pasta (like the family we traded with).

I know that everyone isn’t going to get along, but if there is violence, they get kicked out and forfeit all they have. A society should be able to disagree without resorting to violence.

I know it sounds impossible, but I’d like to go back to the simple way of living. Work to feed your people, your family, take care of your community, help your Elders, teach your children.

Maybe that is just because I’m an Indigenous person and was brought up with those values.
