09 NJM 2020 in MoMoMo

09: Write a short story using the following words: “kingdom”, “paparazzi”, “discombobulated”, “waste”, “jewelry”, “space”, and “bungee”.

“I hate coming here.”

I automatically pinched the bridge of my nose and took some deep breaths.

The space kingdom was the absolute worst to deal with. They pride themselves on being forward-thinkers, and there is no fault with that ideology. It’s just they’ve taken it too far, considering it to be a “waste of time” to “deal with inferior people” in their eyes. Their words, not mine.

However, I’m the only one they tolerate on these runs. Them asking me “stupid” questions, like, “So, have you decided to finally drop the dead weight and move here” were enough to make me hate this place even more. The rapid-fire questions make them look like rabid paparazzi and that is something I wish I could avoid.

This time, I got a new employee to deal with. She seemed so quiet, but I figured I’d break the ice. “I like your necklace. I have a thing for jewelry, so it’s the first thing I notice. Weird, huh?”

She looked up and around, surprised that anyone would talk to her.

I smiled at her, then climbed up the ship to start strapping the cargo down with the other workers.

I hear yelling and turned in time to see a large box sliding towards me. Someone yanked me out of the way as the box fell off the ship and hit the ground.

The whole incident left me discombobulated. Everyone was so focused on blaming each other, no one bothered to see what the cause of the accident was.

I made my way to the area the box came from and I saw the issue: the bungee cord that was used was frayed and it snapped.

I rubbed my temples and sat down, pulling out a cigarette. “This is going to be a long day.”

I’m not good at writing stories. LOL
