Photography Course (NOT) in Days of My Destiny

About three months ago, my friend Janet told me about a photography course that she wanted to go to. She knew I am a little bit into photography so she thought maybe we could go together. It would be a weekend-long course and would cost around $350. We had to "show interest" by clicking on the "enrol" button at the bottom of the info page. It then sent you to a page saying Thanks, we'll confirm all this stuff later on with you as it's all based on numbers and that's when we'll worry about payment etc etc. And that was that. The weeks went by, I never heard from them again and I forgot all about it.

On Friday I got an email:

"Hi Everyone, All of a sudden, there’s just one week to go until Phil arrives to run his Digital Photography workshop next weekend. As we have just the four of you enrolled, which is the minimum number required, I need to reconfirm that you are all OK to attend. Could you please send me a quick email to this effect? As a bonus, if anyone would like to convince a friend to come along, we can offer a discount on the Workshop fee – two for $350, instead of $490. Just let me know. See you on Friday, at the College at 5.30pm."

Insert freak-out.

I felt bad. How on earth was I going to tell Janet that I wouldn't be going?!?!?!?! L is going Home next weekend to se his mates!!! I've been preparing to do a solo weekend with the girls!!!!! Even if he wasn't going away, since when on earth is ONE WEEK enough notice for a weekend-long course that costs that much?!?!?!?!?!?!

I was getting ready to message Janet when my phone rang. It was Janet!!!!!! CRAP!!!!!

Me: Hello?

J: Oh hey! Just calling to see if you've checked our emails lately? We got a confirmation email from bla bla bla about the photography course next weekend....?"

Here I'm just thinking shitshitshitshitshitshitshit..........

Turns out, she can't go either. PHEW. Phewphewphewphewphewphewphew!!!!!!!

So we bitched a little bit about how short notice it is and oh well, hopefully they hold another course in the future.

I emailed back saying I was no longer able to attend. Today I got an email saying that the course is now officially cancelled, because the minimum number of people required was 4, and there were only 4 people who "enrolled" and now 2 people have backed out. The guy who wrote back was all like, HOPEFULLY the photographer can come back next year, you'll have to check our website calendar at the start of next year.

I really think this is not our fault. They just need to be better organized. And don't say we can SHOW INTEREST if what you really mean is we can FORMALLY ENROL. Sheesh.
