Me and my shadow in Daydreaming on the Porch

Over they years on my walks, whether it’s along the streets of my neighborhood or in parks, gardens and nature preserves, I often look to the side on sunny late afternoons and see my shadow walking along with me, my moving silhouetted self. And I always have a camera with me. Suddenly I might happen to see a very striking or unusual composition with my shadow gazing at some beautiful or mysterious place. I only fully appreciate it later when I look closely at the photo I’ve taken with my shadow. On those particular outings I only get one or two pictures, as the shadows are fleeting and only briefly make for good photos.
Yes, shadows are mysterious and intriguing to me. To some a shadow is dark and ominous despite the nice, sunny days when we can see them. Or they may seem like sad or pale representations of our true self. But I see them differently. They are my companions.

not only is it great to capture your own shadow as in those images, but you have capture other shadows in some as well.....it always comes down the taking photos in the right daylight......early or later afternoon delivers shadows beautifully....compared to the harshness of high sun. I am glad you enjoy your walks and can memorialize them like this....thank you. I don't always carry my big heavy camera, depends where I am, and unfortunately the phone camera does not do a good job. I think I may follow your example and take my good camera out more, as I once did. thank you for sharing these.....you inspire. p

LOVE the light play on the last tree in the last pic above the Garland link. Also the canopy of trees shot. When you start talking about shadows, I thought of the opening scene in Peter Pan, when Wendy first meets him and sews his shadow back on. :)
