the mission in poetry

I wanna be the
patron saint of agnostics
I wanna be a
high priest of doubt
I want to remind you
it's a sin to be too sure
and that it's a virtue
to try and figure it out

I want you to make me
the pope of maybe
I wanna make myself
the pope of maybe not
watch the Vatican chimneys
throw up their holy smokes
I wanna see
what pretty colours they've got

the things they want you to
know you know
are the things that generally
really have to go
so I'd rather have questions than answers
I don't wanna have to be a cynic
but skepticism's what it's all about
I wanna be a
high priest of doubt
